Na tomto místě stála od roku 1893 pseudorománská synagoga, dominanta města, významné náboženské a společenské centrum místní židovské komunity. 10. listopadu 1938 byla během tzv. Křišťálové noci vypálena. Chebští Židé museli uprchnout a mnoho z nich nalezlo smrt v koncentračních táborech.
Vrať nás, Věčný, k sobě a my se vrátíme, obnov naše dny jako za dnů předešlých.

Here, since 1893 stood a synagogue built an the pseudo-Romanesque style, the dominant feature of the town, a significant social and religious centre af the local Jewish community. During the so-called imperial Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, on 10th November 1938 the synagogue was burnt down. The Jewish people of Cheb had to flee; many of them ended their lives in concentration and death camps under the Nazi regime.
Turn us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
